When to Seek Emergency Eye Care

Eye emergencies require immediate attention to prevent permanent vision loss. If you experience any of the following symptoms, contact us immediately for same-day care:

Sudden vision loss or changes
Eye pain or severe discomfort
Foreign object in the eye
Chemical exposure or burns
Eye trauma or injury
Severe redness or discharge
Flashes of light or floaters
Sudden double vision

What to Do in an Eye Emergency

1. Stay Calm and Call Us

Contact our office immediately at (330) 332-1200. We reserve time each day for emergency appointments and will see you as soon as possible.

2. Do Not Rub Your Eyes

Rubbing can cause further damage, especially if there's a foreign object or injury. Keep your hands away from the affected eye.

3. Protect the Eye

If possible, shield the eye with a protective covering (like a paper cup taped over the eye) without applying pressure. Do not apply ointments or medications unless directed by our doctor.

4. For Chemical Exposure

Immediately flush the eye with clean water for at least 15 minutes, then call us or go to the emergency room. Bring the chemical container if possible.
